Gracie Rose Grantham

This 9-year-old wants to become the Youngest F4 Driver!

It is said that when you do it with Passion, Success will not be far away! This Year 5 student at St. Christopher’s School – Gracie Rose Grantham has always been passionate about Motorsport ever since she saw the F1 testing at Bahrain International Circuit in 2014 at the age of 3. Gracie is originally from Yorkshire, United Kingdom but lives in Bahrain ever since she was born and considers this Island her home! When girls at her age were busy playing with dolls or kitchen sets, Gracie was more interested seeing races on track. Since she was very young, she had to wait till Age 7 to finally be on track. Initially, Gracie could not reach the pedals even in the smallest cars and she used to put cushions on the seat to adjust. This little star gets excited about racing and taking trophies on the Podium! Gracie says she cannot thank her coach Mr.Khalid Alsaei enough, for he has not only taught her the basics of racing but also the basic mechanical works too! Yes, you heard it right – now this 9-year- old knows how to change her tyres with minimum assistance….Gracie thank her grandparents – Mrs. Mandy Green and Mr. Tony Green for being the biggest support system for her.

She adds that it is her grandmother who takes her for all the races and training sessions. She brings a balance between her studies and race because Gracie wouldn’t be allowed to go for practice if she misses her class or homework. When asked about her Inspiration, she screams his name with a wide smile – LEWIS HAMILTON holding a helmet signed by him for her. Within this year, she has participated in various races held in the GCC region, which includes Bahrain Rotax Mojo Max Challenge (BRMMC), IAME X30 Series in Dubai, Micro Max Series, etc and won the third place for Bahrain Rotax Mojo Max Challenge Series! In 2018, she was selected to be one of the F1 Grid Kids which was a big Honour! She has even had a few incidents with her racing too. She was drenched in petrol when her petrol tank leaked during one training session that stung her legs and has experienced some crashes on the track. This young little racer does not hold back her dream even after these incidents. She says, “My Biggest dream is to become an F4 Driver and leave a mark in this male dominated field. When I shared my dream, there were many who made fun of me and others who thought it was a passing fancy. Racing is my passion and fuel of my life. I am willing to wake up early in the morning or stay awake till late night or practice whole day for the sake of Mastering in it. I would say to all the kids at my age, there is nothing IMPOSSIBLE, if you are passionate – go behind it and you will find a way!
