TALROP GROLIUS – a Technology Company run by Kids!!!

Yes, you read it right! Grolius is a company which makes Web pages for small businesses in a village in Kerala, India which is run by Young Coders and Developers. These 12 students of Grades VII and VIII were exposed to the technology by an IT Park which was set up by a private firm in KVUPS School called Grolius whose main aim is to make kids efficient in coding. The CEO of Grolius – Ms.Haleela Fathima of Grade VIII says, “This position allows me to think up new ideas.” These young kids are trained in languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, WordPress, Python, Django, MySQL and PostgreSQL. They started by taking projects from their locality and clients were impressed by their timely and accurate delivery. Within this one year of inception, they have had a handful of projects done at competitive prices.

Grolius has even participated in the District Level Webpage Designing competition at ‘India Skills Kerala 2018’. These students have training in coding before and after their school hours and during weekends. They provide services including Server Setup, Domain Support, Website Development, and Website Design. The Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Yasir says, “We are extending a variety of services for our clients at the best prices in the market.” They have created a site called encamp.in which contained modules to streamline aids into the relief camps during the Kerala Floods. “Team Grolius is aiming at an income of INR 2 lakhs in the next 6 months.” Says Ms. Saira – Chief Financial Officer. They found it challenging in the initial phase to sign up with clients as people could not believe these kids would be able to do it. Their professional set up and amazing external client services were indeed their blessings!

“Initially people would make fun of us when they knew we are kids, but eventually after a couple of projects we are now able to talk proudly to our clients.” says Ms.Athulya – Chief Public Relations Officer. These kids indeed prove the world that the field of Technology is not just meant for Adults.
