The Tale of a 25-year-old Hijabi residing in Malaysia
Juveriyah Kausar, a 25 –year-old Ph.D. student in International Islamic University of Malaysia continues to dazzle us with her Insta-Store “Hijab Squad”. This store is an amazing example of embracing religious customs with an elegant look! The idea of opening up a store for modest clothing struck her mind when she herself had very little selection in retail clothing outlets. She always finds dress too short or clinging tight to her body while going out for her shopping. Understanding the necessity of modest clothing stores, she stepped into the fashion industry on a sideline, despite having no solid education in fashion. She decided to go further with her idea and put her hands on starting her own venture. Being a Muslim herself, she understood the requirements of other Hijabis and this made it easy for her to bring up modern trends in abayas and hijabs. After a long time invested in various researches and support from near and dear ones, Juveriyah started the journey of her store in Instagram called “@hijab_squad_”.
Initial days were never as easy as the line of business she chose was old-fashioned and a culture that was popular only among Muslims. She understood that abayas & hijabs were just lacking a dose of innovation in its presentation and marketing. Her dream store was born earlier this year with an unfailing support of her parents. Hijab Squad offers a wide range of hijabs – including cotton, georgette, chiffon and crushed shawls which usually ranges from INR 280-350. They offer a wide range of abayas in various designs and colors as well ranging from INR 2000. These reasonable price ranges make it a perfect choice for all types of budget-friendly customers. Since Juveriyah resides in Malaysia, most of her products are purchased from there and sent to a friend in India to continue the next steps of delivery. Imported Hijabs and Customised Abhayas were high in demand among our customers. Her unique designs have not only given a trendy look by aligning them with the demands of the customers but also provide a sense of modernity for them. Now Hijab Squad caters to both wholesale and retail customers suiting to different requirements of customers. The perfection and uniqueness in her designs allow her to clock a monthly profit of not less than INR 10000 to 12000. It is a wonder in the true sense and accentuates women power when we get to know the fact that this young student residing in Malaysia does business all over India. She is a great example of how one can reach one’s goal amidst engagements and challenges. Juveriyah says “My father being an Islamic scholar and mother a housewife has always given me the best guidance and they continuously encourage me to follow my passion which has helped me a lot.” Juveriyah dreams of establishing a brick and mortar store in India once she reaches back in India after her studies.
