Keep your Premium wears safe with this 18-year-old’s startup ALMARI
Most of us stuff our expensive occasional wears in suitcases due to little or no space in our wardrobes. This 18-year-old Leher Ali, a first-year student of Commerce in Mithibai College, Mumbai, India found her clothes crushed and crumbled when it was taken out from her suitcase to be worn for Diwali Function. This incident literally annoyed this girl and that is when she started thinking of a solution for this issue. With almost 9-months of research, Leher came up with an idea in early 2019 which was one-of-its kind in India known as ALMARI. It is a service that gives you a chance to store premium garments in a safe, secure and careful manner. She found a business opportunity in this problem which is generally faced by all of us. People called this idea strange and did not trust in the beginning. Four months into this business, Leher finds it challenging and amazing to have started this business even though a lot of rejections came on her way.
She says, they have never felt it a work as mostly her family do the works in Almari. Leher’s mother -Sanha Ali is a Co-founder in her business and father - Hasrat Ali handles the Brand Development. Currently Almari operates in Mumbai, India and plans to expand to a few other cities of the country by the end of this year. The name “Almari” means Wardrobe in Hindi and they keep the clothes in perfect shape, all year round! They pick up the clothes from customer’s location, stores them in a safe and secure place, dust & irons them when required and delivers it back to the customer as and when required. Their service charge costs upto $26 approximately for storing a set of garment for a year. The not-so-expensive rates and prompt service attracted huge customers within no time. Leher says, “Entrepreneurship is not an easy task. It is a great responsibility.
I was shocked in the beginning when people asked me whether we would run away with their expensive clothes or rent it out to others and many more. It took sometime and a lot of effort to get the Trust of people. Do what your heart says and Do what you really want to do! Even if you fail in the beginning or you do not have any support from people around, do not give up. Have the courage to do it and be Passionate…..You will eventually enjoy your journey!!!”
