Najma Nazar

When the world sees my disability, I see my abilities – Najma Nazar

The tradition of applying henna is a fundamental part of Africa, Pakistan, India, and the Middle East weddings. This 20-year-old determined girl fought all odds to make her venture a Great Success. A Bachelor in Commerce with ACCA Student at Lakshya, Najma Nazar from Kerala, India does bridal henna and sells various henna products. As a disabled child, growing up was always challenging for Najma. She struggled a lot to go to school unlike kids at her age, but she never stopped going to school because of her keen interest in studies. She was one among the favorite students of her teachers and the School Topper of Commerce for her Grade 12 Examination. She could tolerate everything but not the attitude of people. Initially Najma was very upset when people tell her to stay at home rather than going out or when people tell her parents that she was a curse of God. But all the rejections and attitudes of people made her stronger. Being wanted to show the world her abilities and skills, she turned her hobby of applying Henna into a venture and named it Zarah’s Henna by Najma Nazar!

Initially, she applied Henna for her friends and relatives and slowly started to run her business as she did not have many customers due to the difficulty for them to come to her for Applying Henna. Within a couple of months, she started getting customers for Bridal Henna and soon she added Henna products for sale like Henna cones, hair packs, DIY Henna kits and more. Her decision to start this venture was looked upon as an inappropriate one by people saying that she wouldn’t be able to manage it. Najma, daughter of Nazar and Nazeema Nazar stood firm with her decision against all the demotivation and now her success gives an answer to them!

Najma has customers for her products all over India and has many renowned Henna Artists ordering henna cones from her on a continuous basis. She says, “My ABILITY is stronger than my disability. When you feel like giving up on your dream, push yourself to work again and you will be astonished to see the outcome!”
